Training for security staff

Security staff work under high psychosocial demands. The programme focuses on prevention, de-escalation and sustaining psychological resilience, applied to real incidents.

Why a separate programme is needed

In private security, psychosocial risk is not a rare event; it is part of the role. The first contact with an agitated person, the incident that escalates, the night shift and the isolation of the post all take a toll that a generic programme does not address.

That is why the scenarios are not generic. They come from the sector and are adapted to the real incidents in your own organisation.

Frontline Security Skills

  • First contact and situation assessment. How the initial interaction is shaped so that it does not lead to escalation.
  • De-escalation techniques. Verbal and non-verbal communication under pressure, practised through role play.
  • Handling a difficult incident. What to do when de-escalation is not enough, the limits of intervention, and the reporting procedure.
  • Shift work and resilience. Fatigue, isolation, night work and early recognition of the signs of burnout.

Frontline Security Supervisors

  • The full IWOP Manager Readiness™ programme with scenarios adapted to the sector, across the four axes of team management.
  • Three hours on staff retention, with tools for identifying where experienced staff are lost.

In the security sector, high staff turnover is both an operational and a financial risk. Every departure of an experienced guard translates into uncovered shifts, time spent training a replacement, and the loss of knowledge that is recorded nowhere.

How it connects to the measurement

As with every programme, the PCWH Diagnostic™ comes first, so that we know which pillars need strengthening in your organisation. Hours are calculated using the IWOP Model, and the risk category of security activities affects the result.

The programme covers psychosocial risks and skills. It does not replace the security staff work licence or the formal Occupational Risk Assessment Study, which is carried out by a licensed provider. See what PD 62/2025 requires.

Frequently asked questions

Which organisations is it for?

Private security companies, and organisations that employ their own guarding staff, such as shopping centres, hospitals, hotels and industrial sites.

How are shifts handled?

Groups are scheduled around the shift rota, so that no post is left uncovered. The three-hour sessions can also run on consecutive days if that works better.

Does it replace staff licensing?

No. The programme covers psychosocial risks and skills for handling tension. It does not replace the security staff work licence or the formal occupational risk assessment.
