Manager training

A good employee is not necessarily a good manager

Promotion into a management role requires skills that are not taught in the previous job. IWOP Manager Readiness™ measures them through a self-assessment, which you can also give to your team for anonymous rating.

The four axes measured

IWOP Manager Readiness™ measures four axes that determine whether a manager operates effectively. Sixteen statements, six minutes.

DelegationHow you define when a task counts as complete, so that it does not come back to you.
FeedbackHow promptly and in what form it is given, so that it can actually be used.
Difficult conversationsPreparation, opening, handling the reaction, and closing with agreement.
Prioritisation and boundariesHow the redistribution of work and the order of priority are justified, both upwards and to the team.

What does the team say?

In parallel there is an anonymous questionnaire for the people who report to the manager, using the same sixteen statements. The distance between the two pictures is the starting point for developing skills.

The training programme

We built a training programme of seven modules, from the transition into the role through to leadership and influence.

The methodology draws on four established models from organizational psychology and is delivered through role play.

At the end the self-assessment is repeated, by the participant and by their team, and the changes per axis are shown in numbers.

The programme is delivered in-company. Its open version, with an eighth module devoted to re-measurement and the individual development plan, is the IWOP Manager Readiness™ Lab.
